FACT: Not everyone believes in purchasing purebred dogs.

FACT: Not everyone believes in adopting dogs.

FACT: Neither of the above views are wrong.

REGARDLESS of what you choose, we strongly advocate for you, as the potential family, doing your own research. ASK QUESTIONS. No question is stupid. Google doesn’t have every answer. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER! A responsible breeder would be happy to answer any and all questions to the best of their ability, whether you are purchasing or inquiring. Here are some important questions to ask yourself first;

IS THIS TYPE OF DOG (REGARDLESS OF BREED) RIGHT FOR YOUR LIFESTYLE?

What are the breed characteristics? (this applies to mixed breeds as well- the dogs instincts will still be present)

CAN I AFFORD THE NECESSARY CARE, COMMITMENT, NUTRITION, AND EXERCISE FOR THE LIFETIME OF THIS DOG?

Do you have the financial ability? The time? The availability? The physical space?

IF THINGS GET TOUGH, IF MY SITUATION CHANGES, DO I HAVE A PLAN?

Life happens, what is your plan when unforeseeable situations arise?

DO I UNDERSTAND ALL THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE BREED I AM CHOOSING?

Dogs were bred and developed for specific purposes, instincts were bred in purposely. Can you fulfill the needs of the breed? If you are considering a mixed breed, please note, breed specific characteristics will likely still be present in your pet.

DO I HAVE SUPPORT?

Even reputable, responsible breeders rely on each other for insight. Who’s in your corner?

CAN I FULFILL THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE CONTRACT I AM ENTERING INTO?

Breeder or Adoption; There is almost always (at least there should be) a contract.

Questions & Answers for and from your breeder;

WHAT ARE YOUR POLICIES ON VISITS TO SEE YOUR DOGS?

  • We welcome visits, not only does it give you chance to meet us and see if our dogs are right for you, but it also gives us chance to see if you are right for our dogs. We ask that

  • You arrange a visit prior to just showing up. NO. We do not have anything to hide however, this is our home and we have a family that includes children. We ask that you respect our privacy and also understand that we might be out in the pasture, on the trail, running our children to functions or just plain busy, we also have jobs. We will be happy to arrange a time that we can be fully available to you.

  • Do not visit a dog park, shelter, or location where you could have picked up a serious doggie disease. We might have young pups that are too young to be fully protected by vaccinations. Diseases such as Parvo can be devastating. We do our best not to encounter any type/chance of risk to our young pups, mamas or other dogs

ARE YOUR DOGS REGISTERED?

Every single dog we own is registered through The American Stock Dog Registry.

ARE YOUR DOGS HEALTH TESTED?

In addition to regular vet care, each of our dogs have been tested through Paw Prints Genetics (except one who was tested through Animal Genetics- A different company, same tests) for the FULL AUSSIE PANEL. If you check out our page on Genetic Testing & Breeding you will find more in-depth information on this topic.

DO THE PUPPIES GET VACCINATIONS?

Yes. The puppies are vaccinated before going to their new homes by a licensed veterinarian at their puppy wellness appointment.

DO YOU DEWORM THE PUPPIES?

Puppies are dewormed at 2, 4, 6, 8 & 10 weeks (we continue to follow protocol on vet care if the puppy is with us after 10 weeks)

WHEN DO THE PUPPIES LEAVE YOUR HOME?

Pups usually leave here between 8-10 weeks of age. It depends on a variety of factors, namely development.

WHAT COMES WITH MY PUPPY?

  • HOW IS MY PUPPY RAISED?

    All our puppies, the same as our dogs, are raised in our home, underfoot. Puppies are whelped in our home office which is situated on our main floor. It is a quiet room where much of our time is spent. It was naturally the best choice of location. The puppies are integrated into our daily routine and therefore daily activities are common to them. When they get a little older and more confident and sturdy we introduce them to our pack where they get plenty of doggie socialization. They are also well handled by our children and many of our children’s friends. They get used to the running, playing and loudness of our children as well. They are also handled by both my husband and myself. Primarily I do the care but we make sure to have them handled by both men and women. For our last litter we began using the Puppy Culture Method and we LOVE it. We encourage you to follow up on it and we are certain that you won’t be disappointed in the results. Puppy Culture allows us to monitor every step of development from day of first mating right up until the puppy goes to live with you. The method works and while we surely won’t claim to be the most experienced in it, we look forward to continuing getting to know it and use it in raising well developed, well adjusted, life long companion dogs.
